More on our Guest

About Ashley:
After spending countless hours memorizing both traditional and simplified Chinese characters, perfecting her tones, and practicing her speaking with any Chinese native she could find, Ashley successfully graduated with a degree in Mandarin Chinese. She was determined to be the next best Chinese translator in the world... Then she discovered writing romances was as much fun as reading them, and her Chinese capabilities have never been the same. When she isn't writing, Ashley stays busy trying to entertain her two young daughters, attempting to do housework, and hiking in the beautiful foothills of Colorado.

About Shana:

"I'm the author of numerous adventurous, romantic Regency historicals, including the Rita-nominated Blackthorne's Bride. My books have been sold in Brazil, Russia, and the Netherlands and featured in the Rhapsody and Doubleday Book Clubs. I taught English at the middle and high school level off and on for eleven years. Most of those years were spent working in Houston's inner city.

Now I write full time. I'm happily married to an incredibly supportive man I like to call Ultimate Sportsfan, and I have a beautiful daughter and a very spoiled cat."

Ashley's Latest Release:
Sebastian Madinger, the Earl of Wriothesly, thought he'd married the perfect woman-until a fatal accident revealed her betrayal with his best friend. After their deaths, Sebastian is determined to avoid a scandal for the sake of his son. But his best friend's widow is just as determined to cast her mourning veil aside by hosting a party that will surely destroy both their reputations and expose all of his carefully kept secrets...

Leah George has carried the painful knowledge of her husband's affair for almost a year. All she wants now is to enjoy her independence and make a new life for herself-even if that means being ostracized by the Society whose rules she was raised to obey. Now that the rumors are flying, there's only one thing left for Sebastian to do: silence the scandal by enticing the improper widow into becoming a proper wife. But when it comes to matters of the heart, neither Sebastian nor Leah is prepared for the passion they discover in each other's arms....

Shana's Latest Release:
Meet Lord and Lady Smythe, England's preeminent spies. Their identities are guarded even from each other. After years of secrets and lies, their marriage is little more than a crumbling façade. But even love isn't as important as The Mission—to defeat Napoleon Bonaparte.
But what happens when the mission is complete?
Meet Lord and Lady Smythe, out of work spies. Lady Sophia Smythe will scream if she has to attend another tea party. Lord Adrian Smythe will hit someone if he's forced to while away another evening in Parliament. What are secret agents to do when the war is over?
There's one chance left to get back into the game. The prime minister needs a murder investigated. The problem? Two spies. One position.
All's fair in love and war.

Karen's Latest Release:
Sometimes you run in to love. Sometimes it runs into you.
Love at first sight? It’s so not happening for Morgan. Never mind that her two best friends, who are both up to their eyeballs in happily ever after, are playing matchmaker. She wants out of her worst blind date ever—and her “out” abruptly finds her when she’s knocked out cold walking into a door.
One look into the eyes of the beautiful woman with the gash on her head, and paramedic Evan Marshall is a goner. Professional ethics say hands off the patient. Once her stitches are out, though, he can’t resist the impulse to ask her out. As their first date flares into a white-hot affair, he feels it in his bones—she’s the one.
Evan’s everything Morgan could ever want in a man, but things are happening way too fast. She made that mistake once before and, certain this relationship is careening down the same road to heartbreak, she slams on the brakes.
To her surprise, Evan lets her go. And by the time she realizes she just let her one chance at happily ever after slip away, it could be too late…
Warning: Fated love strikes again. Featuring toe-curling sex, a sweet-talking man and a woman who can’t help but give in to her secret desires. Will true love reign supreme? Most definitely…
Elaine's Latest Release:
To Leah Morgan's mind, the last thing her hometown of Defiance needs is another gunman stalking its dusty streets-especially one as sweet-talking and fine-looking as Jace Gage. Despite her warnings, the infuriating man seems determined to meddle in her life and risk his own, all for a town that can't be saved and a heart she locked away long ago.
Professional bounty hunter Jace Gage has cleaned up plenty of corrupt towns in his lifetime, and he knows he can handle whatever Defiance's thugs have to offer. But the town's most lawful citizen is another story. Beautiful, willful and exasperating at every turn, Leah is the one person capable of bringing the ruthless gunslinger to his knees-and capturing his desire with a single kiss.

About the Book:

Lady Julianne Gatewick is in a pickle. It started when her brother’s best friend—for whom she’s long nursed a secret tendre—agreed to act as her guardian for the Season, only to seduce her with a risqué waltz.
But when the music stopped and the expectant ton waited for the Earl of Hawkfield to claim her as his own, he made his disinterest clear. Rather than succumb to humiliation, Julianne does what any recently discarded, wickedly witty young miss would do. She secretly pens a lady’s guide to enticing unrepentant rakes . . . and it becomes the hottest scandal in London.
Every honorable rake knows that friends’ sisters are forbidden. But suddenly Julianne has a spark of mischief in her eyes that Hawk can’t resist. Try as he might to push her away, he spends his days listening for her laughter and his nights dreaming of her kisses. He’s always avoided innocents and their marriage-minded mothers, but has the man least likely to wed finally met his match?

More on RWA:
"Romance Writers of America® (RWA) was chartered in 1981 to serve as a nonprofit trade association for romance writers.
The mission of Romance Writers of America is to advance the professional interests of career-focused romance writers through networking and advocacy. RWA works to support the efforts of its members to earn a living, to make a full-time career out of writing romance—or a part-time one that generously supplements his/her main income.
More than 10,000 romance writers and related industry professionals are members of Romance Writers of America. Although the association is called Romance Writers of America, membership is not limited to individuals living in the United States. Approximately 900 RWA members live outside the U.S., and RWA fosters connections between its members through the RWA Web site, www.rwanational.org, and its 145 local, online, and special-interest chapters. RWA's chapters provide opportunities for members to come together to discuss the industry and build connections with fellow romance writers.
Romance Writers of America hosts an annual conference that provides the perfect opportunity for authors to increase their knowledge of the business and network with industry professionals and fellow writers. The conference offers more than 100 workshops with topics ranging from beginning writing skills to the business side of writing. Romance fiction editors and literary agents search for new talent in scheduled one-on-one interviews, give workshops, and network with attendees.
RWA also sponsors the romance publishing industry's prestigious awards for published and unpublished romance writers — the RITA Awards and the Golden Heart Awards. These awards recognize excellence in romance fiction.
As one of the largest writers associations, Romance Writers of America leverages its influence and credibility to advocate for improving business conditions in the romance publishing industry. Episode #002- The Afterglow Post

What a great show! Y'all are so awesome for tuning in.

First off, we'd like to thank the super fab Jenn LeBlanc for coming on the show and displaying her SEXY muse in the background for all of us to drool over.

If you'd like to know more about Jenn, you can visit her website here.
And if you want to check out that gorgeous book of hers, you can find buy links on her site or here:

More From The Show:
We thanked the AMAZING Tiffany Reisz for being our first guest and for doing a reading from her next book THE SIREN.

We also reminded everyone that there is less than a week left to enter the RomCon11 ticket giveaway hosted by Jenn LeBlanc, Ashley March and the ladies of Romance Lately. If you haven't entered yet, there's still time to do so. We are also giving away 2 goodie/swag bags filled with FUN items from all of us. You can find the entry form here, to do the quick and dirty entry OR if you want extra entries click here.

We moved on to the latest releases. Which there have been quite a few of. Next week is THE week for release. Actually, it's just going to be the 28th that has ALL the much anticipated releases. Laurie London's newest book was released on the day of the show. Happy Release Day Laurie!!!

Jamie talked about Vicky Dreiling's newest book, HOW TO SEDUCE A SCROUNDREL. And it is a riot! A must read. Kati wrote a review for it and you can find it here.

Now on to our favorite topic: romance visuals aka gorgeous, romantic and abtastic book covers.
The trinity mentioned abtastic covers such as Elizabeth Boyle's LORD LANGLEY'S BACK IN TOWN and DEVIL WITHOUT A CAUSE by Terri Garey.

And then Jenn came on to answer the Trinity's questions and tell them about the carrot-contemporary that will never be! She also answered some audience questions and read from both her current release, The Rake and the Recluse,  and her upcoming book, The Rake.

Rita also had a really good question for Jenn, but forgot it as soon as they went live. Afterwards, she finally remembered and Jenn happily answered. Here's what should have made it on the show:

I remember my question!!!!! I was going to ask if other authors could hire you to illustrate their novels & how to go about that

Yes, and I suppose they could simply email me and we could start there. :)

Long story, short- we had WAY too much fun. Aww, who am I kidding? You can never have enough fun!  A show for next week is still tentative- but make sure you mark July 5th in your calendar because we have some extremely cool guests planned!

More on our guest and her book
About our Guest:
"I have several constants in life that define me:Colorado, Canon, CJ, kids and curls.

Born and raised in a household of other people’s children in this beautiful state —very nearly with a camera in hand— I never left. I started my own family, got used to the curls, went to college, built a CJ, and started a business, all with a camera in hand.

I always had another passion; storytelling born from daydreams and nightmares. My fingers were never as quick as my mind, and no amount of practice got them there, so it was difficult and frustrating to have this inside me. When my second daughter was born her inherent traits kept me pinned— my only escape the keyboard. Spending my days in parenting chat rooms I got highly adept with one-handed typing and I can still type just about as fast with one hand as I can with two. It’s a great talent to have when engrossed in a scene and in need of a hit of caffeine. I recently finished my first novel but I quickly realized: I was born a photographer.

From the realization that someone ELSE would be shooting the cover of MY book my control-freak took over. What started as an easy cover shoot ballooned into this completely new kind of media, designed specifically for digital book readers.
I live and thrive off chaos and the constant flow of the creative process. I wear shorts and flip-flops year-round —much to the chagrin of my friends and family— and I am currently working on the illustrations for my second novel."

About the Book:

Francine Larrabee woke up on the wrong side of the century. She was fairly certain she went to sleep in her own comfy bed, but she doesn’t quite seem to be there now. Only adding to her problems is that she has no voice, is constantly being glowered at by a large, stunning man who is obsessed with propriety, and she is apparently betrothed to another horrid little man, determined to ruin her, and any other girls that get in his way.

How does she find herself in the past, when she couldn’t even find herself in her present? How does a self sufficient businesswoman survive in a time when women were still considered property for the whole of their lives and what is she going to do with this man who draws her to him so fiercely.

Check out one of the hosts' review: "1 Part Outlander+ 1 Part Jane Eyre= Me, Lost in LeBlanc "-Kati, Romancing Rakes
